Holiday Shopping On A Time Limit

There’s a holiday fast approaching with my name on it. As it directly follows my wedding, I must confess I have hardly even thought about it. Strange as it sounds, two weeks on a tropical beach suddenly seems to lose its importance when you’re drowning in a sea of lost wedding invitations, seating plans, orders of services and various other bits of white, flowery paraphernalia.

However, that is no reason not to be organised. Once the wedding is over, I don’t want to be faced with the very real possibility of arriving in my holiday destination armed only with a tattered wedding dress and a copy of my wedding breakfast menu. I need to get my act together.

So, what to take for a luxury break away? Well, let’s start with the obvious. There’s no point in being shark bait unless you’re dressed for the part, so a decent bikini is definitely on the to-buy list. Then there’s the question of sun protection. We’re all told on a regular basis to be careful when out in the sun, so I will be packing some Factor 50 and After Sun to make sure I look after my skin.

Shoes are another important point. There are some shops offering lovely sandals, so I’m going to head to town and find myself some flip flops. If I don’t have time to do this, I can always head online. I might also take a more robust pair of shoes, as I’m sure my husband-to-be will tire of the beach in approximately 0.5 days and want to go hiking, quad biking and goodness knows what else. I would also like to take a pair of heeled shoes, but I think I might see how much space I have left in my suitcase!

As for daywear, well it’s the same old thing every year. You cram your bags full of stylish, sexy little numbers that you think will look ever-so-slick on top of your bikini. By the third day in you are despairing at how many clothes you have brought and wondering how many of them you can chuck before the end of the holiday. So day wear is going to be limited to a couple of skirts and tops.

Evening wear is a matter for careful thought. As it is our honeymoon, I imagine we will go out for some lovely romantic meals. So, I think it would be a good idea to splash out on some pretty dresses. I can square that one with the other half once we’re on the beach. After all, what’s the point in getting a good tan if you can’t show it off?

I think that’s all the main things covered, although I’m sure there’s something I’ve forgotten. I suppose I’ll just have to hope that by the time we get to the holiday, I won’t really mind what I’ve forgotten, as I’ll be so happy just to have made it there!
